Works

I’ve had the privilege of working with world class teams who made groundbreaking advancements in production and post-production for feature films and television and left behind a stronger foundation for the next generation of filmmakers.

You can distill my approach down to these principles:

  • Asking, “How can I help?”

  • Asking, “What’s next?” until the day is done or the work is done.

VIDVOX

After seeing some of my experiments using their Interactive Shader Format (ISF) for Apple Motion on social media, VIDVOX commissioned me to do a piece and tutorial on how I use ISF For Motion.

  • These pieces led to an invitation to present an Apple Motion session at the 2020 FCPX Global Virtual Summit. During that session, I created and published a piece showcasing some of Motion’s features (such as USDZ support) in front of a live audience in less than 30 minutes.

Serendipitously, the day of my session fell on the anniversary of the release of Rez, Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s seminal masterpiece and a core source of inspiration.

Frame.io

After meeting several key members of their team at the 2017 FCPX Creative Summit, Frame.io invited me to contribute to a rather ambitious project: a workflow guide to end all workflow guides (for post-production).

Published in 2018, WORKFLOW is still a go-to reference for production and post-production professionals, film school students, and aspiring filmmakers/content creators.

Hedge

Over the years, I published my post-production workflow musings on social media, specifically my experiences with Final Cut Pro (née Final Cut Pro X) and its collaboration possibilities in demanding environments. Between those writings and my inclusion of PostLab in Frame.io’s WORKFLOW guide, I caught the attention of Hedge, the makers of PostLab.

What started as a light content marketing gig during the COVID-19 pandemic flourished into a full-time role focused on helping customers and prospects – from traditional Hollywood teams to YouTube auteurs – use Hedge’s products to reduce and eliminate friction from their technical workflow. These conversations materialized into industry firsts, such as shared project workflows for Avid Media Composer on third-party storage with Mimiq and Event Locking for Final Cut Pro in PostLab 2.0.
